Where our textiles come from
At Independent Studios, we place immense value on responsible production. The global fashion industry faces major challenges from textile overproduction to environmental pollution and from the very beginning, we knew we did not want to be part of that problem.
During our research phase, we carefully selected suppliers who align with our values, ensuring we always know exactly where our products come from. We’re proud to say that all our casual wear is produced in Portugal, giving us a fully European manufacturing chain. Together with our supplier, we continually explore new possibilities to further improve sustainability throughout the process.
Our cycling apparel is crafted from 100% Italian fabrics and made by hand with precision and care. Every material we use is thoroughly tested and certified including several fabrics that carry the respected bluesign® certification, ensuring high environmental and safety standards.
We also place great importance on the people behind our products. Alongside our partners, we work every day to create equal opportunities for everyone involved in producing Independent Studios.

The reason behind our on-demand approach
We operate with an on-demand production system. This means that once your order is placed, we begin creating your piece or adding the final touches to the textile specifically for you. We choose this approach consciously and proudly because responsible production is a core value of Independent Studios, as outlined above.
Working on-demand allows us to avoid overproduction, reduce waste, and keep our creative offering fresh and flexible.
Important: we do not work with dropshipping. There is a clear distinction between these models.
Print-on-demand (POD) produces items with your own designs after a customer places an order, while dropshipping sells pre-made products from a supplier. POD supports creative brands that want to offer something truly unique; dropshipping is more suitable for businesses focused on selling a wide range of existing products.
Both methods eliminate the need for holding inventory but on-demand production aligns with our values, our creativity and our responsibility as a modern clothing label.
